Daddy’s on form in Oslo race week.
“Daddy’s” is a very distinctive and beautiful
new, dark blue and cream Petticrows Dragon which was delivered
to Norway as the snow was melting in the spring.
The owner, Jorgen Paulsen, invited Tim from Petticrows to
Oslo last weekend to help him set up the boat, assist with
the crewing techniques and also visit one of Europe’s
most geographically isolated Dragon fleets.
After a day of training on the water Jorgen, Kim and Tobby
had all learnt a lot about the different techniques involved
in sailing a Dragon fast - including a lot of spinnaker work
and use of the rig controls.
They then launched into Oslo race week where they showed off
their new found skills and recorded an impressive series of
first places. Jorgen commenting that the boat was both very
fast and responsive.
Jorgen, a long time Dragon sailor is delighted with his new
boat which has really rejuvenated his enthusiasm for Dragon
sailing - his lovely wife Hanne is already calling the boat
Jorgen’s new mistress.
He is already considering the possibility of winter racing
in southern Europe as the Norwegian sailing season is very
short. Jorgen was not aware that there are a number of charter
possibilities in both Cannes and Cascais over the winter months
which Petticrows can help organise.
