Douarnenez
2010
The immaculate organisation and race management that we come
to expect from the team at Douarnenez were evident again in
2010, so that the biggest Dragon turnout of 2010 enjoyed two
great series of racing.
In the first non discard series, the Coup de Bretagne, Anatoly
Loginov’s team sailed consistently – always within
the top 4 places - to take the podium, with Poul Richard Hoj
Jensen winning two races but not managing to challenge Loginov
in second. Louis Urvois finished 3rd.
The
Grand Prix series had 74 entries. Tommy Mueller had a clear
victory showing magic speed in his new out of the factory
Dragon and also reading the wind well in the tricky northerly
breeze. Louis Urvois again had a great regatta, finishing
second. It is always nice when there is a shake up in the
fleet, newcomer to Dragon sailing Klaus Diederichs (with Andy
Beadsworth and Jamie Lea)finished 3rd ; certainly a team to
look out for in the future!
With 20 points separating the next 10 places every position
and decision was important.
Early
season is always a busy time for Petticrows, and the champagne
was flowing with a large number of new boat launchings taking
place at the regatta. As well as Tommy Meuller launching his
new Dragon, we also had 2 new Australian boats, 1 French and
1 Swedish hitting the water for the first time.
