Even Better.... As good as it gets in Cannes
The
Allianz Dragon Grand Prix in Cannes kicked of the 2011 Grade
1 listed Dragon events. While many sailors still await the
return of their Dragons from the worlds in Australia it was
still impressive to see almost 70 Dragons turn out for the
regatta.
The regatta was testing for both race officer and competitors
with the winds being generally light and shifty, causing a
number of black flag starts and the ever present possibility
of getting caught out on the wrong side of the course.
For Petticrows the event was marked on the Friday evening
with a champagne quadruple launch party. With 4 new boats
being taken straight from the factory to the event. At the
time of the party a very excited new boat owner Gavia Wilkinson-Cox
was leading overall - proving that her custom pink string
and pink accessories are a fast edition to her new Petticrows
Dragon. Unfortunately for Gavia she was the wrong side of
a large shift in the final race dropping to 5th overall allowing
Vassily Senatorov, Igor and Alexander in RUS34 “Even
Better” to take the title. Our congratulation to Vassily
for winning the event in very difficult conditions.
