Junior and Senior at the front of the fleet
The Cannes Grand Prix was a terrific start to the Dragon European Grade 1 events of 2019.
The fleet of 51 Dragons had fantastic racing in mixed conditions in the East and West Bays off the YC de Cannes.
The top 3 boats were separated by only 4 points with the final race deciding the winner.
It was Pedro Andrade’s team sailing a 2018 v6 boat with an E mast from his 8th Dimension Sailing “Planet fleet” that were victorious. His crew of Gonçalo RIBEIRO and Joao VIDINHA had an extra team member Kacey Marfo a 13 year old schoolboy from the S Scaramouche project which introduces inner city youngsters to sailing. A huge well done to Kacey for taking part in this event.
At the other end of the spectrum in second place we welcomed Dragon veteran Tommy Mueller back to the fleet after a short break from Dragon Sailing. Tommy is undoubtably up there in the Dragon hall of fame and has been an extremely valued Petticrows customer over many years. Tommy and his crew Malte Philip and Marcus Koy were sailing a brand new v6.1 and new E mast which were delivered to the regatta. This was the second ever v6.1 made so it is great to see this early success.
Continuing their recent good form was Grant Gordon’s team, Louise - securing another podium position in 3rd place.
