Petticrows Yngling
Petticrow built Ynglings have dominated the 2008 Yngling
Europeans in Spain.
In a tense final medal race, any of the first four boats,
all built by Petticrows, could have taken the title. With
a nailbiting finish Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson
(GBR) took the title, on a photo finish, by 1 point from Sally
Barkowus, American Team. Third and fourth were the Dutch teams
lead by Renee Groeneveld and Mandy Mulder.
Petticrows have carried out a construction run of 8 Ynglings
for sailors focusing on the 2008 Olympic title.
Petticrow Dragons have also had a good start to the season
with Poul-Richard Hoj-Jensen winning the Princess Sofia Regata
and the race in Calanova with Vassily Senatorov finishing
second in both Regattas. Len Jones won the King Juan Carlos
and the Prince Henry Navigator Trophy in Cascais.
Sailors competing at Olympic level are always trying to
get that extra performance from their equipment. As worlds
leading keelboat manufacturers, several Yngling sailors approached
Petticrows to ask if we would make them new boats for their
Olympic campaigns.
In 2007 Petticrows obtained a Yngling builders license from
ISAF and are currently producing a number of Ynglings for
some of the worlds foremost Olympic Yngling teams.
Sarah Ayton (UK) - current World champion, Shirley Robertson
(UK), current Olympic champion,
Ekaterina Skudina (RUS) - current European champion,
Silja Lehtinin (FIN)
The Dutch team (NED1) are amongst the sailors receiving new
Petticrow Ynglings.
We are delighted that the Dutch team (Mandy Mulder and crew)
were victorious in the recent Miami OCR regatta in their brand
new Petticrows Yngling straight from the factory.
We will be following the sailors results over the 2008 season
leading up to the Olympics in China this summer.
